Message Well, tonight I got my Zemulator working as planned. All I can say is OMFG. ļ

I loaded up a stageASHSZ program I put together a while back where I had played around with properly scaling the maps, but because I was limited to pulling the chip, erasing it, reprogramming it and running it, I didn¡¦t have the patience to see it all the way through. That¡¦s where I got the idea of the Zemulator.

Well, I got the hardware last Friday and I finally had a chance to play with it tonight. Everything works as planned.

Last week, in preparation for getting the emulator, I setup my DAQ software and an input from an injector line to calculate injector pulsewidth, TP (theoretical pulsewidth), engine RPM and duty cycle. I also setup a disk write for data logging all of these parameters, along with O2 sensor data, boost data and throttle position data. This would be instrumental in tuning the maps appropriately.

So I started the logging, cranked her up and took off on a baseline run. GTech meter showing 364RWHP at 17psi of boost.

Then I took a peek over at the timing map. JWT had set it to run ~16degrees of timing at WOT. I bumped that up to 18 degrees and took her for a run. Gtech shows 378RWHP, felt it in my pants. Ok. Lets go a little further.. ƒº I dialed in the timing to 20 degrees across the RPM band and took her for a run. Pinging at 6500RPM, but Gtech shows 391RWHP, REALLY feeling it in my pants. Then I jumped over to the fuel map and bumped up the enrichment another 5% at 6500, another run. Gtech shows 392RWHP, but no pinging and O2¡¦s running 0.71 across the board. ƒº

So, I had to stop there due to inclimate weather, but tomorrow I¡¦ll be shooting for 19psi of boost. I¡¦ve mapped the ECU out to ~20psi of boost so I¡¦ll keep my resolution within range.

I¡¦m positive I will be able to hit 400+RWHP on stock turbos and drive her into the low 12¡¦s definitely. Possibly even getting into the 11¡¦s with a set of silvia intercoolers waiting on the bench for the 2¡¨ mandrel piping to arrive- just gotta weld up some pipes and flanges and they¡¦re done. If I still don¡¦t hit 11¡¦s, that¡¦s OK. I WILL get there with aquamist on stock turbos, no doubt.

This is my ultimate goal. I consider the 11¡¦s the ¡§f*ck you¡¨ bracket because once I hit it, they will tell me to put a roll cage in there and that¡¦s when I tell them, ¡§F*ck you, I¡¦m done.¡¨ No roll cage for me. 11¡¦s is fast enough. Then I¡¦ll pour money into suspension. :)

Just an update here for you. The ¡§Zemulator¡¨ is working as planned. Just need to work out a few bugs with the hardware and finalize the application. Since you all don¡¦t have computers installed into your cars, it poses an issue because you need feedback to make appropriate changes. Well, I¡¦ve been working with the folks who are putting together the ConZult device and they will be integrating some additional information into the interface you will need for tuning. Together, the applications/hardware will give you a full featured engine management system for a fraction of the cost of a standalone system, and it will be much easier to tune than other systems out there.

You guys are in for a real treat once this is finished.
